“Working in corporate responsibility is the most effective way to make a difference in the world.” This is hard to stomach. It is certainly true that there is great power for good in CSR given the resources and influence in play. It is hard to square that with the fact that the net impact on the world of most public companies is negative - including Apple. Can we let companies play it both ways and just call that reality or should we expect something better?
The best way I have found to determine the real POV of a company is to look not at where it invests in philanthropy, cause markeing or CSR but in where it invests in lobbying. In looking at its lobbying investments you begin to see the real world they are trying to create.
