I just returned from our son’s traditional wedding in Nigeria. Police or traffic checkpoints along the highways are numerous. The people manning these, mostly men - but we saw one woman - carry rifles. On our way to the wedding in Sapele (200 miles from Lagos) we were stopped at many, but were able to pass without any “dash”. On the way back from the wedding, on the advice of our older son who is resident in Nigeria, we had a mobile police officer with us and were not stopped at all. That son hired a police officer to drive him to and from the wedding. That’s the way to feel safe - you’re protected from both the other police and the thieves! I admire CLEEN’s attempts to work with the police, but change will be a long time coming.
CLEEN’s efforts are well appreciated. It may be a tall order, but the journey of 1000 miles starts with that one step. I hope Private organizations and Public agencies can see the merits in the great work CLEEN’s doing and provide the needed support for them. I also hope like minds can replicate this in other facets of our lives.
