Dan, Camilla, Eric, congratulations to you and the rest of the report steering committee on this long-awaited report. Having this first state-of-the-market assessment will help all actors involved in that space to strengthen the case that there is indeed a conservation market with actual size and significant potential. Apart from cracking the market challenges that you outline above, we’ll need to spend more time on evaluating if and how successful local, regional and national mechanisms can be applied internationally - all in the context of different regulatory environments and varied investor sentiments.
This is a very interesting view on Impact Investment. I also think Impact Investment would develop much faster if facilitated by incentive public policies (such as support and tax reduction tools) so as to gain more popularity in an economy still driven by net benefits on share value. There needs to be much more participative partnerships across sectors to create momentum and highlight the need for impact investment rather than unpredictable financial benefits. Impact Investments return on equity cannot be derived as current financial performance tools for part of their impact is non-financial.
