The article has really encouraged me. getting to learn that social innovation is a concept that can be applied across all fields. i appreciate that you have taken your time to share your knowledge.
I live in the neighborhood where Good Food Markets has set up in DC. The impact is really substantial for those of us who live here. GFM hires many locals. They bring us healthy locally sourced food when available. And their prices are often the same or better than chain grocers. More to the point here this store feels like it is “ours” in a way that is unimaginable with a major chain. They ask us what to stock. Within days it is on the shelf! And they make us feel welcome as community not just customers. More than would a restaurant or bar or retail outlet this neighborhood grocer has made a real impact in how we feel about our neighborhood. I’m considering g having my octogenarian parents come live here so they won’t have to be driven to the store. It’s a huge impact in very little time but GFM is now securely ensconced in (and improving) our community.
