This is a crucial subject… and not just for the very large, networked agencies. We’re a large, but local, community health, housing, and social care provider in Vancouver, Canada - and the question of larger impact is squarely on our agenda (and in our strategic plan). We’re simply not seeing quick enough improvement in overall systems performance despite our (and others’) best efforts as a service provider. Plus, we’re also seeing the challenge that governments have in working across silos… so this is an opportunity to reconnect with our roots as a social change organization. For us, one of the first places to start has been to champion and “backbone” a Collective Impact initiative in our local mental health and addictions system. It’s exciting work.
The question of the day? One hand doesn’t know what the other hand is doing..know of the many organizations who so make up what we call non profits.
