Thanks for this interesting article. I might suggest one more important question: Do we have the capabilities to support productive and meaningful multi-stakeholder collaboration? I’ve seen several attempts at MSIs at various levels (local to global) that checked all three boxes you mention but they didn’t have the process design and facilitation chops to help a diverse group get real work done.
That’s just a shame because everything else in in place to make a real difference but people assumed that by just inviting the right (or, more commonly, the most influential people) people into the room to talk and work on the challenge, good things were just going to organically happen.
And the more complex the problem or system, the more diverse the group must be, so the need for real process expertise rises fast.
