We are very much in need of a partnership with an organization like yours. Our group has helped for the past three to four years a group of women in an island barangay of Tingo Olango Island in Cebu. We initiated some livelihood projects and helped them form a cooperative, but we are now in need of good a marketing channel since the women’s product often goes to a middle man for lack of access to any form of marketing. We are also in need of some grant money in order to develop new product lines, our handicrafts are mostly made of materials which comes from sea shells and other indigenous materials, but the designs of the group are not very updated due to lack of R & D. I am writing on behalf of the group hoping that we can connect.
My organisation, Himalayan Acvtion Research Centre is working in a small hilly state of India with mountain community. The main focus of HARC is farm and non farm based livelihood promotion. HARC has promoted rural women in Uttarakhand in business activities. By the facilitation of HARC a group of 30 women is engaged in folders, carry bags and wall picture making with hand made paper. These women use hand made paper and wild flowers and leaves found in the mountain region to decorate their items. They have started marketing the products at the local level. The folders (used in conferences and meetings) are being sold to various organisation. These groups are also exploring markets for their products in other areas. How can these women can get connected to your group to increase their access to the market so that they can get a fair price for their products?
Does World of Good work with any artisans from Senegal? I noticed that most fair trade importers in europe, where I live, have less African products, especially from Sub Saharan Africa than from other regions such as Asia or Central America. Would World of Good be eventually interested in Senegalese artisans’ products?
