I understand the need for nonprofits to be held accountable given the amount of money they receive but are you also making the argument that nonprofits shouldn’t be able to benefit from tax deductible donations? If a nonprofit moves to the business sector then it can no longer get this break. I think it would really help the social business sector if we could find a way to get them included under the tax deductible umbrella.
It would be interesting to see how charitable giving would change if there wasn’t a tax break, or if those tax breaks could apply to businesses that are dedicated toward social change. Sounds like a task for the B Corporation label.
