“Safe spaces for Users” I believe, would have saved my daughter’s life (age 27 at death). If her heroin had been tested for fentanyl, she certainly would have not injected herself. My daughter fought the disease of addiction for over eight years, just maybe, if there is a safe consumption space, my daughter would still be alive.
This epidemic is killing so many people—I heard, 178 in the United States per day! The CDC estimates that 72,287 people died from overdoses in 2017, an increase of about 10% from the year before. 2019 how many more?
Why does the Federal Government prohibit helping drug addicts with their disease? If I had a heart disease, diabetes, cancer.
Why does the Federal Government prohibit helping drug addicts with their disease? If they had a heart disease, diabetes, cancer; they would receive help. Thank you, Denver & Philadelphia for preparing a safe drug room, for others that have this disease. Please also plan for a safe drug room in Cleveland, Ohio.
I am still grieving; probably always grieving. It breaks my heart when the death statistics keep rising and people keep losing their loved one.
It blows my mind that safe using sites are so slowly making their way into major cities, world-wide, and that naloxone is still out of reach for so many who can’t afford the hefty price tag. Something is seriously wrong.
Hey! Thank you for sharing awareness about this big problem. Effective interventions are too frequently underutilized. This is often related to a belief that addiction represents a failure of willpower or a flaw in character.
