To assume a leadership role for any marginalized community takes a great deal of fortitude and passion. I have been the victim of hate speech and attacks but I continued the passion to fight for human rights, access to health care, and youth services. Mr. Aison should not provide fuel to the threats he receives because such publicity can generate more hate and instill fear in the local Latino community in Raleigh. This is not a good leadership practice. Fear is exactly the mindset that has allowed this Administration to push an agenda of increased hate and vengence that has backfired in the long run. Mr. Aison needs to go beyond a fear response and instill confidence for the local community and his staff.
