Creating Impact in a Volatile World — Lessons Learned from the Front Lines

In this Complimentary SSIR Live! Program, Participants Will:

  • Hear stories of resilience from several social entrepreneurs, and the innovative models that enabled them to impact millions of lives
  • Gain an understanding of ‘scale strategy’ and what it really means to design for scale from the start when building a social enterprise
  • Learn how funders can support their portfolio organizations at the critical early stages of their development
  • Understand the role that a corporate funder can help play in accomplishing this work

2020 was a year like no other: a global pandemic, constant explicit reminders of systemic inequity and racial injustice, global economic turmoil, and threats near and far to the world’s democratic institutions. While 2020 may be in the rearview mirror, we don’t ever want to forget what we lived through, and the lessons we have learned from those experiences. Key among those is the lesson that inequity, at so many levels, persists—and has only increased for many of society’s most vulnerable. Looking forward to 2021, these ever-present challenges require even more innovative solutions, ones that are anchored in communities and leverage bolder and quicker action, greater resource commitment, and tenacious leadership.

Today’s most successful social entrepreneurs are focusing on their missions more than ever to respond to the challenges of our time, and to help those most vulnerable in the world. In this complimentary SSIR Live! webinar, you will hear from three social entrepreneurs on the front lines of change, who are a part of The Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation (DRK) portfolio. These leaders will share the lessons they learned in 2020 and the ways in which they were able to pivot in the moment to innovate new solutions, and channel their impact to places of immediate need.

This program is sponsored by DRK and Social Impact, the philanthropic arm of BlackRock Inc., which identifies and supports programs to help individuals and communities build financial resilience, with a specific focus on the people and places who continue to be disproportionately impacted by crisis.
