This 90-minute LIVE program will:

  • Illuminate a three-step pathway that organizations can take to incubate, launch, and foster sustainability ownership among employees
  • Outline eight actionable ways to engage employees in an organization’s sustainability journey
  • Highlight the multifaceted benefits of spurring a key stakeholder — employees — to embrace an organization’s sustainability efforts
  • Demystify the common misconception that investing in sustainability hurts profitability

While most organizations talk about sustainability — such as integrating environmental and societal concerns into their organizational models — very few follow through. Our slow progress on critical sustainability issues such as climate change, energy use, food waste, etc., demonstrates that companies struggle to operationalize sustainability goals, even when the people working for these companies, including their leaders, profess to care deeply about sustainability. Few companies have figured out how to link their employees’ values and support for sustainability to their daily work within the company’s operations. In other words, the gap lies not in the why but in the how of embedding sustainability. In this SSIR Live! program, we will empower social sector leaders with a purpose-driven three-step pathway that will enable organizations to integrate “sustainability ownership experience” into their business decisions and employee psychology.

In this LIVE session, using real world data and case studies, we will showcase how to transition to a more sustainable organization and ignite a key stakeholder — employees — by providing more meaning and purpose to their jobs, thereby boosting employee engagement. The key to creating a vibrant and sustainable company is to find ways to get all employees — from top executives to frontline workers — personally engaged in day-to-day sustainability efforts. In this SSIR LIVE! 90-minute program (on-demand available later), we will outline eight actionable ways to engage employees in an organization’s sustainability journey and provide best-practices from organizations that have successfully incorporated sustainability into their operations.
