In this 90-minute, interactive SSIR Live! webinar, we will learn …
- How to lead your board to seize the opportunity of a virtual environment to increase effectiveness
- How to build inclusion and social bonds among board members virtually
- How to cultivate the tactics and superpowers of top board leaders to make your board stronger
- How to meticulously plan and prepare for being a super board member in this remote ecosystem
Good boards deliver “governance”; super boards go much further, and build a legacy. But the virtual environment brought about by the pandemic in which so many boards and leadership teams now work has changed this dynamic in ways that we hardly realize, and brought about a new world for us to navigate. Pandemic-induced isolation and virtual technology have sparked some great ideas that give every board an opportunity to be more inclusive, more connected, and more productive than before. Boards that seize this opportunity will emerge from the pandemic stronger than ever.
This 90-minute SSIR Live! interactive program will explore “super tactics” that your board and your leadership can use to make the most of the board experience in an ever-more virtual world, helping prime your nonprofit for success.

Using a case-based approach, we will explore common challenges faced by boards and leadership teams, such as building engagement, trust and cohesion, and dealing with disruptive or disengaged board members. The speakers will present each case, poll audience members on their proposed solutions, and explore multiple potential approaches. The session will educate attendees about making virtual board meetings effective, by sharing experiences and modeling specific tools and techniques.
This program will provide you with actionable ways of identifying the right mix of virtual and face-to-face meetings, and demonstrate how intentional design and preparation can make virtual meetings even more effective. We will also cover how to build inclusion and social bonds among board members, and share ideas to keep boards effective and cohesive in a remote environment.
