Data on Purpose 2025

Conference Overview

On May 6-7, SSIR held Data on Purpose 2025, a free two-day virtual summit exploring the rapidly growing role of AI in social innovation. Under the theme “Reimagining the Digital Future: Harnessing AI for Social Good,” we convened a world-class lineup of speakers and panelists to delve deeply into pressing challenges, to share cutting-edge ideas and examples, and ask tough questions about the relationship between technology and social change.

Watch the session recordings and view supplemental resources.

We featured a diverse range of engaging formats, including inspiring keynotes from prominent figures, real-world case studies, intimate fireside chats, and interactive sessions. We’ll also cover specific areas, such as economics, agriculture, and business, where AI can be a powerful force for good—or may pose risks.

Over the 2 days, we heard from speakers including:

  • Daron Acemoglu, 2024 Nobel Prize winner and MIT economist
  • Terry Winograd, prominent computer scientist and Stanford emeritus professor
  • Marietje Schaake, a former member of the European Parliament and member of the United Nations’ High-level Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence
  • Mike Kubzansky, CEO, Omidyar Network
  • Ariam Mogos, lecturer, Hasso Plattner Institute of Design
  • Michael Running Wolf, AI ethicist and computer scientist using AI to revitalize Indigenous languages
  • Arvind Narayanan, director, Center for Information Technology Policy at Princeton University
