After helping lead Stanford Social Innovation Review since 2006, I will be stepping down as editor in chief, effective January 11, 2024. I’ll be turning 70, and I am looking forward to a new phase in my life where I can pursue a variety of passions. I’m letting everyone know now, to give SSIR time to fill my role and to prepare for the transition.

All organizations benefit from occasional changes in leadership that bring in new ideas and skills. As SSIR celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, and with my retirement, the time is ripe to review our successes of the past and look toward the future.

It has been a privilege to help lead SSIR the past 17 years. It has enabled me to work with an incredible group of people here at SSIR, the Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society, and Stanford University. It has also enabled me to meet and work with so many other brilliant and passionate people who are striving to make our world a better place to live, and to help bring their ideas and accomplishments to a global audience. I thank our readers, our writers, and our staff for making this possible. I look forward to helping guide SSIR through the changes ahead in 2023, and to reading the publication and following SSIR’s achievements for many years to come.
