Big Society Capital (BSC) originated in the London office of Sir Ronald Cohen, founder of Social Finance UK and thenchairman of the UK-based Social Investment Task Force. It was there, in February 2011, that Sir Ronald and I received and accepted an invitation by the UK government to provide a working blueprint for the “world’s first social investment bank” (as the government called it).
